Quick Verdict: Grid Legends is a technical miracle with a major flaw. It brings the full console experience—Story Mode, 100+ cars, and 130+ tracks—to a standalone headset. While the graphics on Quest 2 are blurry and jagged, playing this on a Quest 3 transforms it into the best track racing game available for mobile VR.
When Codemasters ported Grid Legends to the Quest, they made a bold choice: they didn’t cut anything. Unlike other mobile ports that strip out features, this is the entire game.
However, this ambition came at a cost. At launch on Quest 2, it looked rough—like a PS2 game running on a toaster. But with the power of the Quest 3, this game has been given a second life.

Quest 2 vs. Quest 3: A Night & Day Difference
If you are playing on a Quest 2, be warned: the resolution is low, and the anti-aliasing is non-existent. It looks “shimmering” and jagged.
On Quest 3, the brute force of the new processor cleans up the image significantly.

Quest Optimizer: If you use the “Quest Games Optimizer” tool (a popular side-loading app), you can boost the resolution to 125% and run it at a stable 90Hz. In this state, the game looks sharp, smooth, and genuinely impressive.

The Trade-off: Even on Quest 3, don’t expect Gran Turismo visuals. The textures are flat, and the mirrors are just grey blocks (no reflections) to save performance.
Gameplay: Controller Only?
This is the most controversial part of the game.

No Virtual Steering: Unlike Dash Dash World or Touring Karts, you cannot grab the virtual steering wheel with your hands. You must play using the thumbsticks or a Bluetooth gamepad.
